Fort Hood soldier faces murder charge

Police arrested and charged a 26-year-old West Fort Hood resident and soldier with murder Sunday. The Bell County Jail inmate log stated that police booked Sgt. Brett Marvin Wessel on a murder charge. He is being held without bail in connection with the death of retired Sgt. Ryan F. Dickinson.

Fort Hood Spokesman Tyler Broadway confirmed Monday that Wessel, a soldier with 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, was arrested after an early Sunday shooting incident on West Fort Hood.

On Tuesday, Fort Hood said U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command continues to investigate the incident.
